Bioenergy International was created by Lennart Ljungblom in 2001.  The concept was based on a close integration between the printed issue and the internet version as well as an international cooperation between different language editions produced by partners.

The main edition was the global distributed  English spoken version produced in Stockholm, Sweden.  At most distribution reached 68 countries world wide.

Second largest edition is the Spanish version produced by Avebiom in Valladolid, Spain.

Other editions are (was) produced in France, Russia, Poland and Italy.
